Protectus has been certified by the Department for Transport as an accredited provider of the Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) training programme. All UK ports must have a certified PFSO, required to implement security measures stated in the International Ship and Port Facility Code (ISPS Code) and train other staff in general security awareness.
The ISPS Code specifies that the PFSO is responsible for the development, implementation, revision, and maintenance of the Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP). The PFSP outlines the required measures to prevent the unauthorised access of people, weapons and contraband into port, and provide for a safe and sterile working environment for international shipping operators.
On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Execute the PFSO responsibilities in accordance with the ISPS Code and national requirements
- Manage and revise PFSP
- Coordinate effective search plans and security operations
- Understand the ISPS Code security levels and implement actions accordingly
- Develop, maintain and review port facility access control
- Conduct port security assessments and threat analysis
PFSO certification can only be awarded by the Department for Transport approved training providers and Protectus is proud to be accredited for its training practices. For more information on the wide range of training available please contact us for details.
