One of the more recent additions to the Protectus portfolio is our canine drug detection service. As we work in conjunction with a range of superyacht charter companies and crews, we understand that the presence of illegal substances on board a vessel is simply out of the question and can present real risks in penalties to the captain, crew and business.
The use of specially trained dogs to seek out substances has proved invaluable in sweeping yachts between charters to sterilise the vessel and indicate the presence of any untoward products. Our team recently travelled to Sardinia at short notice where a yacht needed to turn around a sweep quickly before the next charter began. There had been some concerns raised by the crew and so the captain and port team contacted us to see if we could help. With the skills of our dog team we were able to conduct a full assessment of the yacht, saving manpower and many additional hours of time and labour.
The dogs worked methodically around the vessel with the search plan put in place well in advance of arrival at the location. The captain was left with complete peace of mind that the yacht was clear and was able to complete the turnover in excellent time.
