Andy has been involved in the provision of emergency health care and medicine since 2006 and has reached the ranks of Paramedic Clinical Supervisor.

Andy’s training has seen him work in challenging and traumatic environments delivering the highest standards of healthcare to a range of patients. Ultimately responsible for the assessment, care, treatment and transportation of patients, he has been required to attend and treat cases of accident and sudden illness and respond to urgent, special and planned patient transfer requests.

Andy has taken an active role in the development of people, delivering presentations to a variety of individuals, organising and facilitating training sessions for staff and other healthcare providers. He has had responsibility for student paramedics, emergency care assistants and co-responders, offering guidance and supervision throughout their learning experience.

In 2013, Andy was part of a medical team who volunteered their skills to a project in Kenya, to deliver first aid training and develop a team of ambulance operatives. The assignment required the confidence and ability to adapt quickly to a completely new environment and overcome language barriers.

Through his understanding of the Ambulance Trust’s strategic clinical objectives, Andy became a Dynamic Clinical Leader and role model to both juniors and his peers. He provides professional advice focussed on the delivery of excellence.

Andy has led and advised on projects involving the provision for and awareness of personal welfare and first aid. He frequently accompanies the close protection operatives where required to act as the on-site medic.
